In the US, issues around diversity and inclusion are at an inflection point, and the business community cannot stand idle. The CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ is the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion within the workplace, and Hillrom is proud to participate.

The companies and individuals in the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion stand committed to work together on solutions and actions that can influence the national dialogue and inspire change. By signing onto this commitment, Hillrom is pledging to cultivate a workplace where diverse perspectives and experiences are welcomed and respected, and where employees feel encouraged to discuss diversity and inclusion.

As part of the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge, Hillrom has already taken several specific actions:

  1. Development of a Global Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (DIB) Council
Chartered in 2018, the council serves as a think tank, setting policy and acting as a conduit to leadership in enhancing our diversity practices. To date, the council has developed a DIB strategy, spearheaded improvements in our benefits, created five new employee resource groups, developed metrics to measure representation and retention, hosted global broadcasts on the topic of inclusion and much more.

  2. Implementing Gender Strategies
We recognized a disparity in representation of women and women of color in senior and executive leadership roles—and we sought to close the gap. We reviewed data on our new hires, promotions, turnovers, pay equity and benefits—with the goal of retaining our female colleagues and filling more open roles with female candidates. We also developed a plan to increase women representation on our Board of Directors and in executive and senior leadership roles—both of which have since grown to 37.5% women.

  3. Statement in Response to George Floyd’s Murder
John Groetelaars, Hillrom’s Chief Executive Officer released a statement to all Hillrom employees and on social media on May 31, 2020.

"For Hillrom, and for me personally, diversity and inclusion are non-negotiable. Only with a diverse workforce—one in which everyone is encouraged to share their authentic selves and face uncomfortable truths—can we hope to enhance outcomes for the patients and caregivers we serve all around the world. Whether you’re a Hillrom employee, supplier, customer or shareholder, I invite you to join me in this important work."
